Comments Thread For: Anthony Yarde: We'll Go For A World Title At The Right Time

By Shaun Brown - Anthony Yarde's progression is a source of much debate and frustration among many a British boxing fan. Trained by Tunde Ajayi and promoted by Frank Warren the Yarde team are doing things their own way, at their own pace and will strike when the moment is right. That strike refers to a world title shot which the WBO number two contender stands not a million miles away from...

Mehdi Amar would be a good opponent for him next and then the winner of Boesel vs Koelling

I think too many guys (Wilder and AJ included) go after a title when it's easiest to acquire, and then their handlers claim they need time to develop. IMO, once you hold a belt you better be ready to take on the best of the division.
If Yarde plans to do it right, good on him.

Frightened Anthony Yarde wont budge, after witnessing the brutal destruction of Sergay Kovalev in purson, it only re-affirmed to Anthony that he does not belong at world-level.

This scared Brit reminds me of the highly touted coward welterweight prospect Konstantin Ponomarev who passed on Errol Spence jr. and the IBF last year -- Like Yarde passed on Artur Beterbeiver this year ; just to lose to a unknown euro-bum Sergey Vorobiev for a local Russian title ; Vorobiev only had SIX PROFESSIONAL FIGHTS. I can see this scary-bum Anthony Yarde getting chinned by the local UK club fighters in Hosea Burton or bum Frank Buglioni that Anthony has 'allegedly' been also avoiding.

Burton hasn't got the power and Buglioni hasn't got any kind of chin, so theres no reason Yarde shouldn't have fought one of them by now. The level of hype with this guy is unbelievable. Id bet Buatsi gets a real test before him.

The thing is though, nobody's asking him to be put in with the world level contenders - there are a lot of domestic opponents that are proper evenly matched with him that he could have fought by now but he and his team choose not to.

On the other hand, he's in as many words saying that he isn't ready. So I'm going to complain when there are title holders in these divisions saying they'll fight anybody but their team still referring to them as prospects who aren't ready.

I don’t think he should be going for titles. Just some genuine LHW challenges would be good. I didn’t mind the Sjekloca fight as a development fight, but he was a SMW not too long ago.

Let’s just see him with some reasonably skilled guys who can match him for size.

European level is fine. Fringe world would be great. His career is being so carefully managed its unreal

Let me summary this whole thing....."I plan to fight bum after bums from lower weights, the Wilder/kell brook way. Once am 35-0 i would probably then finally step up my competition, fight a champ on the way out or fight for a vacant title against some low ranked fighter. Then accuse everyone of ducking you and call yourself the man at your weight."

Yeah, fair enough i say, if that's his plan.

He barely had an amateur career anyway and hasn't had many pro fights. No point in rushing it or looking for an easy title to pick up if you're not ready to fight the best.

They wouldn't even fight domestic rival (Buatsi) who only started fighting recently.
