Comments Thread For: David Lemieux: Spike O'Sullivan Didn't Want To Take This Fight

David Lemieux is convinced Spike O'Sullivan didn't want to fight him September 15. Lemieux told BoxingScene.com that there were times during negotiations that he thought he'd fight someone other than O'Sullivan on the Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin undercard because it took O'Sullivan so long to agree to face him.

Spike got one good win against Douglas and now he is being promoted like he is some sort of top 5 middleweight

When Spike turned down the fight with GGG, It was implied that he would get a bigger pay day with Canelo. Instead he's offered a fight to rebuild Lemieux's brand so he held out for more money. It's not fear, it's about money.

That said, O'Sullivan made some big claims and he'll need to own them. IMO, David catches him late with a shot that puts out.

As for Canello, it won't be Charlo next, it will be the Spike/Lemieux winner. Sorry Spike but Goldenboy's preference is David because he's a come forward fighter that's susceptible to a counter puncher.

Remember when he accepted the Golovkin fight then turned it down when the venue and money changed?
Oscar for some reason promised him good fights in the future if he didn't take the Golovkin fight under the new terms.

Lemieux lost a ton of stock by getting humiliated by BJS, but realistically he should KO Spike. That win over Douglas was pretty good but other than that he's kind of a sideshow fighter. He's just so unbelievably crude.

eh, thats a story to that.

spike beat douglass, signed on to fight jacobs. but GB reactivated his contract and pulled him off the jacobs fight so he could
be one of two in house opponents for alvarez after the golovkin fight. they put him on the ryan garcia card against a welterweight ranked #85 or some ****. GB pullin spike off the jacobs fight had haymon pull sulecki out of a final eliminator for charlo and stick him on the jacobs fight.

osullivan definitely wants this fight. hes in line for a huge payday and has made decent money for bein a good company man, and he has a damn good chance of winning this one.

but it is odd that GB didnt have him fight golovkin. that made no sense to me. he coulda lost and still faced lemieux. they could have recouped some of the money they lost with the cluster**** over clenubutrol.

Spike got beaten up badly by Eubank. I’m surprised he’s still fighting. Definitely not a coward.
