That seems highly unlikely, and in the off chance this was actually the case, walking out after already being in the ring did him no favors.

The way to handle it, if true, would be to not walk into the ring until the contract is fixed. That way he's putting the pressure and attention on the promoter to fix this and save the fight.

Think about it, the headlines would've been completely different, fight announcers could have immediately updated the public on why they're not getting a fight and the story would've been about a "crooked promoter" vs the guy that left the ring as soon as the bell rang.
