    Scoring Toney-McCallum

In 1992 when McCallum challenged Toney for his IBF middleweight strap, the bout was scored a draw. I thought Toney won clearly, although McCallum was clearly very good and even a newbie to the sport could grasp how great 'The Body Snatcher' must have been in his prime.

I hear the rematch was a closer fight, but Toney got the nod in that fight. Was cruous how yall scored these fights...

I thought Toney won both fights, & this is coming from someone who lists Mike McCallum as one of his all-time favorites.

The first fight was a great fight, fought on an elite level.
Toney's very big finish is what lead me to score it for him.

The second fight was a huge disappointment. McCallum was not nearly as sharp as he was for the first one, & Toney looked flat.

Soon after the 2nd McCallum fight, Toney moved up to 168 vs Barkley and looked much sharper and more energetic. I think this shows he was already having eating/weight problems early in his career and benefited from the move up to 168.

But yeah...that 1st fight between those two was a thing of beauty. One of the type of fights you tell someone to watch if they wanna learn how to handle themselves in the ring.
