Poor Lemieux

Lemieux is a former IBF World Champion who was
brave enough to attempt making his first title defense
against a man regarded as the best/most feared fighter
in the middleweight division.
He suffers one-sided setbacks and still lands coveted
spots on major PPV undercards.
It's a testament to his entertainment value & marketability.
Lemieux doesn't exactly need anyone's pity.
In fact, I'm sure that Lemieux' popularity bothers Saunders,
who beat some decent fighters while building a undefeated
record, but still doesn't have fans clamoring to watch him
fight.

If Saunder's wants to call Lemieux a 'bum',
then I guess Saunders should be called 'Charmin'
because he was really gentle on the bum.

Saunders "can't take credit for that win" because he knows he
doesn't deserve the praise that he had received afterwards.
It was not the 'master class' that some fans tried to suggest.
It was an anticlimactic fight, where Saunders nullified Lemieux by
nervously using more movement than was actually required to
make him miss. So much movement that he was rarely able to
counter Lemieux as solidly as he could have. Lemieux began
looking increasingly frustrated, discouraged, and tired as the
rounds went on, but Saunders never wavered from his jittery
defensive strategy. A better fighter would have been able to
relax and pick-up his offense as Lemiuex began to fade.
Lemieux, who had been stopped before, looked ready to quit
if Saunders would have stepped it up down the stretch.
Saunders was able to nullify Lemieux, but he looked as
poised as a frightened rabbit throughout the fight.

Disagree. It was a technically brilliant performance. He made Lemieux miss AND pay for the majority of the fight and the opinion of most (including Jim Lampley and Roy Jones Jnr) is that Saunders was hurting Lemieux and could have gone for the knock-out but that it wasn't worth the risk - which is something I agree with.

That poise you talk about is what a boxer needs if they are in with a big puncher

Having said that, I don't necessarily believe that Saunders is a great fighter as a result because, as Andrade said, he should have been expected to do that against such a limited boxer. It was still an excellent performance though and certainly raised BJS in my own estimations, I think he's a difficult night's work for anyone and could see him beating Canelo on neutral territory.
