That ESPN
. 20 minutes of some football game, at the scheduled start time. They always schedule a live game before the boxing shows.
Many people dont, or cant watch shows live anymore. There were times that I added 30 minutes to the ESPN recording and STILL missed the end of the fight! Because they scheduled a live game, that cut into the start time. So I put an extra HOUR on ESPN recordings.
Andre Ward was describing Dogboe's pre-fight discipline, of no partying and drinking. Ward was about to continue on with OTHER things Dogboe abstains from during training camp, but he caught himself. He remembered this was an ESPN broadcast!
Watching Pedraza fight, I go back to fighters like Easter and Imam. They were trained box, but not to FIGHT.
Pedraza is a boxer too, but if you want to bull your way in, he's got something for you! Check hooks, body shots, stiff jabs, uppercuts! You wanna brawl, we can do that too!
He doesn't cover up and cower, when Beltran tried to make it ugly. Easter and Imam...nobody taught them how to FIGHT in a back alley.
Pedraza camp may have caught Beltran trying to cheat with the hand wraps...the obvious question is, how long has he been getting away with it?! Like, during the fight for his green card?!Comment

The guy on the announcing team, the award winning journalist? You have certain boxers, like Beltran and the "fighting for the farmers" guy, in California, that come with a story? To win favor from the network, fans, the judges, the ref, whatever the motive is.
That announcer does stories on them for ESPN, and then he openly ROOTS for them during the actual fight! I guess so the "story" can continue, with another chapter?
Other networks are guilty too...Lampley will openly promote the HBO backed fighter, and Lederman will cook up a favorable scorecard!
It's still annoying to listen to that ESPN guy root for the guy with the story. So it was funny looking at his obvious disappointment, when Pedraza dropped Beltran with that uppercut, pummeled him at the end of round 12, and was clearly on his way to winning fight!
That announcer clearly wanted Beltran to win, and get that big money shot against Loma!
You see, the green card STORY was concluded after the last fight.
This was supposed to be the next chapter, the lotto ticket! Pedraza didnt get the memo!

Pedraza just got the memo, a couple days late, that it was the Beltran show, the Beltran story.
The script was, with green card secured, the brave warrior overcomes the ferocious challenger, to defeat all odds, and win the Loma contract. Supporting characters, Mr. Pedraza .
Pedraza got the script a little late.
