He wasted too many years and I'm very disappointed!
November 17, 2018:
Junior middleweight world titleholder Demetrius Andrade, unhappy with his purse and by a lack of communication with his promoters, has dropped out of a defense scheduled against Jermell Charlo on Dec. 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Although Charlo promoter Golden Boy Promotions and Showtime, which was going to televise the bout as the opener on a tripleheader, announced the fight on Oct. 31, Andrade-Charlo was never finalized and now it's off.

March 13, 2017:
Well, he's still unbeaten, has won a world title as an amateur and already two as a professional and is now likely to chase the lucrative bouts at 154lbs, so on paper there is no issue at all. The problem is that prior to his contractual issues, Andrade was being hotly tipped alongside the likes of Terence Crawford as a king in waiting; a technician with the potential to inherit the American throne vacated by Floyd Mayweather.
While he was clearly the superior boxer in Ludwigshafen, Andrade did little to suggest he is ready to meet those lofty expectations.
It seems the inactivity of the past three years has taken some kind of toll. Since his first and only defence of the WBO crown -- a ruthless seven-round destruction of Blackpool's Brian Rose in June 2014 -- Andrade fought just twice before Saturday night.

I did follow him, and I saw great potential, but he never stepped up for the big fight...UNTIL NOW!

BoxingScene.com has been advised by Artie Pelullo, the head of Banner Promotions, that Demetrius Andrade (21-0, 14KOs), who unexpectedly pulled out of a Decembe
Then another article where the Charlo saga is revealed:
Demetrius Andrade has been head-hunting, but unfortunately for the current WBO light middleweight champion, the only thing he has been able to take a whiff at, has been hydrogen. Like all fighters, Andrade does not want to fight a natural element of the earth. An element that feels no pain, but he wants to inflict
Virgil Hunter said he knows Andrade well having coached him before, and thought he had better over-all skills than Lara, had power in both hands, and was also about 4" taller.
Hopefully we get to see more of him, more often. I think he will beat BJS. He is extremely skilled. I believe he beat Keith Thurman like 4 times in the amateurs, and Thurman is no slouch.Comment

I agree that he has wasted valuable time in his prime years, but know that he had very poor promotion. They made the Charlo fight for a pretty low purse for a champ, but it was still Andrade's highest one to date. What he didn't like was the short camp he had to prepare. He signed in January for Charlo, was ready to go, then Charlo didn't want it, and fought Vanes M. instead. This article shows it was supposed to be back on:
