Kassim Ouma-Sechew Powell Official For 8/5

Sources close to the situation have just informed BoxingScene that a clash between undefeated junior middleweight Sechew Powell (20-0, 12KOs) and former champion Kassim Ouma (24-2-1, 15KOs) is a done deal for August 5 in New York's Madison Square Garden. Since no title is at stake, there will only be ten rounds of action. [details]

To all the people who claim that no good fighters are on Showtime or ShoBox: why is it that HBO keeps signing up guys who have fought on ShoBox within the year? Powell, Paul Williams, Mike Arnaoutis are the three most recent that I can tell...

Powell has not proven anything, nor have Williams and Arnoutis. They all will have a chance to prove themselves shortly though. It's not as if these gus are on par with HBOs big dogs like Floyd and DLH.

BTW...Ouma will beat Powell convincingly. Grady Brewer could have easily for the nod over Sechew Powell. I'd love to take all the points away from anyone who thinks Powell will beat Ouma.

Although i agree that i think Ouma will be successful against Powell (and convincingly so), i think you need to give Sechew a little more credit than that, he's had 6 fights (wins) within the last year and a half, with the competition having a combined record of 125-23.. IMO he's at the very least, in the top 10 in the division

Who has he fought and beat in the top 10? Did he beat the long standing top 10 guys at 154, like Verno Phillips...Jc Candelo, Jantuah, Rubio?

Powell may be top 10 there simply because you cannot name 10 better fighters than hm at 154, but he's not top 10 from beating any top 10 guys.

I think your forgetting about Archak TerMeliksetian and Cornelius Bundrage.
