  • Comments Thread For: Garcia: Not Worried About Porter's Head; Tricks Up Our Sleeves

Danny Garcia is well aware of Shawn Porter’s reputation. The rugged Porter typically makes fights rough for his opponents, most of whom complain Porter gets away with using his head when they’re working inside. Andre Berto and Adrian Granados, the last two opponents Porter defeated, both have criticized Porter for head-butting them during those fights.

I'd pay good money to watch somebody put Porter face down on the canvas like Juan did Manny. He rushes in and I get sick of cringing and hoping he doesn't cause a bad cut because of it.

Anytime you predict a Porter fight, always, and I mean ALWAYS factor in the fact that the fight could end because of cuts...whether it's him or the opponent.

Completely agree with a football helmet, because even sparring headgear won't help Danny. I swear Shawn is worse than Holyfield or even Bradley when it comes to the "third" punch. What Shawn did vs. Berto was criminal. I hope for Danny's sake that the ref is competent and will issue a deduction after just 1 warning.

I don't mind Porter's style he's not a dirty fighter he's just aggressive as f#@k and that's coo with me.

Porter needs to chill with that head butting sh**. If Danny losses I want it to be because he actually lost and not because he was getting head butted the whole fight. Anyways I can't wait to see what tricks he has up his sleeves I bet it's the hold and punch technique Kell Brook used I just don't know if Danny is as strong as Kell Brook to pull it off! However Danny pulled off a nice win over Lucas back in the day so it'll be interesting to see.

Yall acting like Porter is Tim Bradley or something with this head butter label ever since the Berto fight its not even so much that he uses his head its more of how he just smothers you and he's always fought like that since day 1 nothing new...

Porter was dropped by Broner for the first time in his career by a left hook. The left hook is Danny’s best punch. Hopefully, Porter has a controlled way of coming into Danny’s body. Looking at Porters past fights, he comes in with reckless abandon most of the time. Porter also has a habit of bouncing his hands up and down at certain points of the fight like in the attached video, leaving his chin wide open for the left hook. That’s how Broner caught him, he timed him. That will play into Danny’s strengths and the left hook. Porter could get knocked out.

You talking like Porter isn't game planning for the left hook he's stated many times he is watching out for Danny left hook and people don't give Broner enough credit for how strong he is late in fights as a result of saving his energy and not letting his hands go even Marcos was praising Broner for how strong he was late in the fight even after 2 knockdowns and dam near getting KTFO he hurt Maidana late..Vargas too Broner started hurting him in the mid-late rounds..

Danny is fast and lets his hands go better than Broner does, he may not have as much 1 punch pop but way better combos. He's also coming off a great tune-up and will be super sharp. DSG will win by late tko.
