Comments Thread For: Shawn Porter Celebrates Arrival of 'Peak Week' For Danny Garcia

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - It's the most wonderful time of the year for Shawn Porter. The sweet spot between the onset of training camp and the arrival of fight night that means the final stages of fine-tuning for an opponent in this case, fellow former welterweight title claimant Danny Garcia has arrived at last. Porter calls it "peak week," and he's awfully happy that it's about to begin...

I can't stand either guy, but it will be a tough fight for both guys. I hope Garcia wins so we can see Spence beat him into submission.

Porter has an ugly style, hard for me to watch, but it allows him to be competitive with any top welter.

I tip Danny to win with his left hooks when Porter bulls in.

Porter is good but he doesn't vary his style.

Indeed, Porter held the WBA’s title at 147 for eight months – defending once – during the latter stages of Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s hold on the division,
WHEN THE HELL DID PORTER EVER HAVE THE WBA??? IT WAS THE IBF!!!!!!!!!!

There is no such thing as an easy fight with Porter. I think DSG will win, but it won't be one sided, or an easy night. Porter makes his opponents earn it. Porter has also been doing better at maintaining distance, so he hasn't been suffocating his own offense as much as before.

Not really very interested in this fight although I will watch it. Would much prefer seeing Errol Spence or Terrance Crawford facing either of these two guys,

                Looks like it is corrected.

Indeed, Porter held the IBF’s title at 147 for eight months – defending once – during the latter stages of Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s hold on the division, and Garcia initially ascended to the welterweight championship level by winning “Money’s” vacated WBC belt against Robert Guerrero in January 2016.

Me too. Crawford and Garcia split in the amateurs, so it will be interesting to see who improved the most. Garcia tends to fight up or down to his opposition. It is obvious neither him or Porter are excited about facing Spence, but one of them will have to.

Garcia doesn't not know how to cut off their ring. We learned this in Peterson and Thurman fights. Now if they went toe to toe Danny would ko Crawford.
