Comments Thread For: Hatton: Wilder is Technically Not That Good, Fury Wins on Points

Manchester legend Ricky Hatton, who has helped Tyson Fury with his comeback, feels confident that his fighter has the necessary skills to outbox and decision WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. Hatton was working the corner last Saturday night in Belfast, when Fury dominated Francesco Pianeta over ten rounds of action.

I think we all know who will win on points and who will win on KO.

Ortiz was much better technically and look what happened to him, when you have god power in your fists technicality doesn’t mean much in the hw division.

Fury is a much better fighter than Ortiz. To put it quite frankly, Wladimir Klitschko was a better fighter than Ortiz and he was shut out by Fury.

Funny thing is it was a skill counter from Wilder that completely changed the fight. He baited Ortiz in and off the back foot landed a beautiful counter right hand.

But yeah, Fury is definitely levels above Wilder technically. What Wilder has going for him is his speed/jab/athleticism/power. Fury's foot movement is on another level though. Wilder doesn't throw many punches a round and if he looks for just one shot, Fury should be able to out box him for a decision. But at some point Wilder will go for broke if he is losing and then we will see what happens. Both to their credit have good stamina for HWs. So if it goes 12, neither should be blowing air like crazy as most HWs tend to do that late in a fight.

Wlad was shot in that fight. He couldn't even KO Bryant Jennings in his previous fight, and if you'll recall, Ortiz knocked out Jennings that same year.

Fury landed less than 23% of his punches and fewer than 9 punches per round against a completely immobile Wlad.

Wilder will not stand still and he will throw punches.

I believe this is the punch you were talking about. Ortiz tried following up and jumping in with a right hand and... POW!! that was the beginning of the end

Watching Wilder 'box' is like watching a paraplegic swim...difficult.

Yep. Baited him the entire way. If you extend that gif, I believe Ortiz was throwing some jabs that were missing by inches. Wilder's plan the entire time there was to hope Ortiz extends out and then he will land his counter. And once he did it was the beginning of the end for him.

Wilder actually fought a fairly disciplined fight. It's only when he has you hurt he goes all crazy. Technique goes out the way and he is just trying to kill you.
