I`ve just found Eubank`s quarterfinal win at the 1985 NYC golden gloves, he was only a Junior but beating guys in their 20`s, he had only been boxing for 2 yrs they say
Like all Adonis Torres fighters he looked fleet on his feet and had some nice foot moves he had probably tried copying from other fighters at the Jerome gym, he was very erect but had an exceptionally good left jab for an 18 year old and was compared to Mark Breland, but limited in that he lacked variety of punches and his only defense was dancing
The story the commentators say before this bout is that his dad flew him to the Bronx to get away from his streetwise peer group in England, he lived with his mum in the Bronx and got a job as a cleaner at the Jerome gym because he had no money, after 3 weeks they rang his dad and said `your son will make champion!` (so they had obviously let him join in boxing)
