Comments Thread For: Fury: Wilder Congratulated Me, Said it Was Great Performance

Fury, the former world heavyweight champion, cleared the way for a fight with Wilder, the current WBC titleholder, by winning the second bout of his comeback on Saturday. Wilder was ringside at Windsor Park in Belfast to see Fury taken the full 10 rounds by Italian journeyman Francesco Pianeta before being awarded the victory on points, 100-90.

Can you imagine AJ fighting Fury this year? His 2 performances this year are so poor that fans would not give Wilder full credit for beating Fury. At the moment, Whyte, Bellew would chin him.Aj was right to say Fury is not ready. He was booed yesterday because they saw that he is not ready for the big boys.Anyway life is about rolling the dice, if he pulls the upset against Wilder, it is a big win and if he loses it is still a win for having cojones to fight the most dangerous man in his division.

Fury boxed well but who wouldn’t against that type of opposition

Every current top 8 heavy in the U.K. would have done the same against Pianeta . He’s a terrible test to get you ready for the worlds number 2

Wilder is wise to give fury a shot in his current state .... big money little risk . Should be a good build up though and a interesting fight . Fury could pull it off if he mind f**ks wilder like he did wlad . Some good fights coming up at heavy

                Piece of pie.

So just to confirm some results:

APRIL 2015 - lost to klitschko 6th round.

JULY 2015 - lost to chagaev 1st round. (Cheagaev lost to Lucas Browne!)

October 2017 - Lost to Kevin Johnson 7th round. Johnson has lost ten fights , some against really poor opponents.

June 2018 - lost to peter milas (who?)

So Tyson fury fails to knock this man out and is being given credit? Ready for wilder? Don't make me laugh. He is no where near ready. Taking the cash while it's on offer in the knowledge/hope he will stick get to face Joshua in the future anyway is my guess.

He even suggested he would KO wilder? How? Rich Power, zack page, Thomas mzarek, John McDermott, Francesco pianeto? What do they have in common? All opponents Fury couldn't get a KO on!

Anyone was actually impressed with Fury's performance against a fighter who isn't even in top 100 heavies?

After these two fights he's ready for Wilder?

I think it's more a case of "show me the money"!

Before last night I thought that Fury might actually believe he can beat Wilder. Then I saw him take shots and look defensively disorganised against a guy ranked outside the top 100. Wilder's skills are underrated but they are not elite level... they're still a damn sight better than Pianeta's and when Wilder lands you got problems.

I think you hit the nail on the head. It's early enough in his comeback that when he gets KTFO by Wilder he'll say

"Look, it was my third fight back. I'm a fighting man. I'm so full of pride that I don't know what's good for me sometimes. Of course I wasn't ready, I had been out of the ring for 2 years and struggling with depression and addiction. But I'm the kind of guy who wants to go straight back into the fight the best because that's the kind of fighting man I am. Gotta love me. I'm a fighting man. I faced the guy Joshua was afraid to get in the ring with before I was even ready to fight the best, but this time I'm ready because I've just beaten [insert name of guy ranked 30-50] in dominant fashion"

To be fair to him... it's pretty smart. He's going to earn a shedload of money. Then he'll no doubt balloon back up in weight, but hopefully he'll be well from a mental health point of view after retirement this time, if not a physical one.
