Reminder, Pianeta was flattened within a round by fat, old Chagaev and stopped by the old, washed up version of Kingpin Johnson. I realize Fury was trying to get rounds in, but that's no excuse for not getting a late stoppage. Pianeta wasn't bothered by a single punch landed by Fury other than the one at the beltline

He looked like the Fury of old IMO, even leading up to Klitschko he was never a huge ****er, and I don't think he was trying super hard for the KO anyway. Like he's saying now getting rounds in was probably more valuable to him than that. He showed that he's fit enough to do rounds, that his reactions are still good, that he can still box orthodox and southpaw and that he still has good footwork. That's enough to legitimise the Wilder fight imo even if it's not enough to make him the favourite.
