i usually don't make fun of a dude for going blind from a beating in a boxing ring, but the man literally deserves it. you gotta be a bad, bad dude to deserve blindness in one eye, and probaly a lifetime of serious, serious visual impairment.


we talk about how fighters are never the same fighter after a beating, but what's really scary is when you hear about fighters being different people after they take a beating. the stories are rare, but when you hear them it is scary to consider.

he shouldn't be. he was a cheater that finally got caught. If you get caught once for cheating, you've been cheating. That goes for Canelo, Povetkin, Ortiz, anyone. And it's not that he was doing something minor, he was damaging lives . Resto and Lewis were banned for the same thing

You have a very strange justice system there. If a boxer is caught cheating he is guilty of cheating on that occasion and that occasion only. It does not mean he cheated his whole career. The law doesn't work that way nor is it supposed to. It's possible he cheated before and also possible he never cheated before. You can think any boxer caught cheating has cheated his whole career all you want but thinking it doesn't make it true. Guilt and punishment should be based on proven fact and not assumptions. Lewis removed padding from the gloves. Margarito was never accused of doing that.

I doubt he will ever be in the Hall of Fame. He probably didn't do enough to be there and he is hated. Look at the hate he has received in this thread. The people who decide who goes in the Hall of Fame are boxing fans not that much different than the people posting on here now and I haven't read any yes votes.

Even without the scandal no and he wouldn't even make the ballot.

His prime years consisted of a close win over Clottey in a fight he was losing easily until Clottey broke his hand, a major *** next to his Cotto win, clear cut losses to Williams, Santos and an all-time epic beat down loss vs. an old Mosley who hadn't looked good in years.

This guy was plastered for years, I'm fairly certain juiced for years too.

A very green Martinez. I don’t think the win is elevated because Martinez went on to be so good. Plenty of dudes beat great fighters early in their careers.
