Comments Thread For: Roy Jones: Bivol Needs One or Two More Fights Before Alvarez

Former four division world champion Roy Jones Jr., who during his prime was the king of the light heavyweight division, believes WBA champion Dmitry Bivol (14-0, 11 KOs) needs at least one or two more fights before a unification with WBO champion Eleider Alvarez (24-0, 12 KOs).

I disagree. Once you hold a title you should be ready to take on everyone. I know Alvarez is more experienced but when you want to be a champion you should be ready for all fighters in your division. Otherwise don't hold the belt.

I totally agree with RJJ on this . Although I give credit to Chilemba for being cagey and having a good jab . Bivol looked flat and unimpressive .

I agree with you.Alvarez pulls an upset and now he's too good for the likes of (fill in a name). Kov has slipped, he got KOd by a guy with a 50% ratio. Kovalev was dropping his left and eating right hands to where Alvarez finally smacked him just right. Bivol better take his shot before he starts slipping too.

Agreed. People have flamed Wilder, Tank, AJ, etc for being champs that need opportunity to grow. Same should apply to Bivol. When you decide to fight for a title, there should be no going back after that.

Since then Alvarez has got a W over Pascal plus KO'd Bute and Kovalev .
