It would be kind of funny if the winner just retired right after and left Joshua without his payday. He'd never have the opportunity to make that much in a fight again.

I find it strange that one of the big narratives with this fight is that "Fury is after a money grab and he knows he can't win".

I don't understand where this really stems from. What evidence have the Fury's shown they are in it for the money.

Tyson walked away from a mega payday in the Klitchsko Rematch. Neither him or his cousin live exuberant life-styles, despite both making £100'000's if not millions already. Hughie drives a C class merc!!!

All the work he has done to get to this point, money is not the driving force.

Who are the people claiming it money? That’s very strange. Obviously he gets paid well but he also wants to prove a point with the Wilder fight.

Big risk for both men, props to both guys.
It depends on how the loss happens, tbh; if it's a good, competitive fight, we likely see the rematch.

If Fury gets crushed, he jumped levels too quickly; he'll likely take 3 check fights to make sure he's all the way sharp again before taking the next shot (he loses after that, and he's likely done, hard living and time having taken away what made him special).

If Wilder gets completely befuddled by Fury (Fury isn't knocking Wilder out), he either goes for the rematch or angle to get to IBF or WBA mandatory status (the money that Hearn offered was basically 25% anyway).

As of today there is no Wilder vs AJ fight only both men saying they are close to making a deal to fight each other. That is not the same thing as a fight being officially announced at all. Being close to making a deal could be as far as it ever goes and they may never actually fight each other. If they do fight it would depend a lot on how the loser lost. That could be anything from a first round KO loss to a close split decision robbery type loss. If Wilder lost but put up a good fight he would still be a top 5 heavyweight and would continue with his career. If Fury lost I think it would put him out of boxing for good. Fury is an undependable head case. When he won boxing's highest honer he became depressed and fell completely to pieces. I doubt his mentally fragile self could handle a defeat. We may find out because I expect Wilder to win by KO if they do fight.

I think you are right. It's not money that drives Fury. He truly believes he is the best heavyweight in history.
