No, he actually fought shumenov in a sanctioned fight and wasn't able to trap him on the ropes.

Inbetween rounds his trainer advised him to cut off the ring on shumenov and flores asked "how?"

As far as his job as a commentator. He was ok, but dude actually didn't know how to cut off the ring vs shumenov and asked his trainer inbetween rounds how to do it.
