I don't want to discredit Pacquiao as a shot fighter because I don't think he's shot. He's old but he's not a shell of his former self. Let's keep in mind that he completely flustered Matthysse to the point that Matthysse pretty much said, "no más." He's not a prime Pacquiao either but Pacquiao's remaining abilities (which were extraordinary in his prime), speed, power, and 23+ years of pro-level experience gives him a very competitive edge at this stage of his career.
With that being said, I still think fighting a Crawford at 147 is dangerous because Crawford is a big legit welterweight with power in both hands. Lomachenko might be a more even match up if it were to happen at 140 because Pacquiao could benefit coming down from a weight he never really belonged in while Loma would meet some resistance coming up to a new weight division. But it comes down to two things, really.
1) Does Pacquiao simply want to cash out in these last three fights before hanging them up? I wouldn't blame him and no one should after his illustrious career. If he's looking to bank big before he retires he should maybe consider Hearn's deal which could give him solid paydays overseas where he's a hot commodity and a high-profile fight against Amir Khan or even Kell Brook if he decides to come back down to 147.
2) Manny Pacquiao is a prizefighter which means he fights for a prize. What that prize is for him at this stage of his career could be determined by who he eventually signs with. Pacquiao could make a decent amount of money fighting seemingly easier fights overseas or is Pacquiao looking for another shot at greatness? If that's the case then he'll go with Arum to fight Crawford or Lomachenko. He'll make big money, yes, but the same could happen if he goes with Hearn. The difference here would be Pacquiao's true intentions. Sign with Hearn for big money and lesser competition (no one would mind) or go with Arum and dare to be great again against the #1 or #2 pound for pound fighter in the world.
If Pacquiao works with Arum again considering these points you have to give him props for being a real fighter at heart. Me personally, I'd prefer easier fights if he intends to fight on. But, we'll see what happens.
he should sign a fight-by-fight deal with whoever makes the best offer
and he should stay away from CrawfordComment

If Manny is smart, he’ll stay as far away from Arum as possible. I personally believe Arum is responsible for the loss to Horn. It will be wise if he remains a self promoter like Cotto, De La Hoya, and Mayweather. Sad that it took so long for him to break away from Arum. And even sadder, Haymon controls the major players at 147, all dangerous fighters for Manny at this stage. I think his last 3 fights should be against the Garcia/Porter winner, and 2 fights against Mikey Garcia. All 3 would be huge fights and are winnable. Fighting Crawford or Spence at this stage would not be wise and there’s no point. But no matter his next opponent, he should never give Arum another payday.
oh, and this ^^
unless it happens to be a GREAT offer, in a winnable fight, against a more static opponent..... no point in cutting off your nose to spite your face
Manny should look at everything, but take his time..... and sign nothing other than the best deal for him on a fight-by-fight basis
but yea, fk ArumComment
