  • Comments Thread For: Dana White Admits Zuffa Boxing Venture Has Stumbled a Bit

Things have not gone exactly as planned for Dana White's planned venture into boxing. White, who is the President of the UFC, was planning to branch out his company with a sub-brand called Zuffa Boxing. In the last few months, White has been speaking with several known boxers - like WBC, IBF lightweight champion Mikey Garcia - with the hope of signing a few of them.

Cant say I'm surprised big poppa he has money too throw at it, but what boxing knowledge can be bought? I think there is to much competition that's long established for him to make a noticeable impact anytime soon.

I’m sure the pay scale for the boxers would be similar to what the MMA guys get, which is basically nothing unless you are a champion and even then the UFC can’t compete with boxing unless your name is Connor

Promoting is a dog eat dog industry. Look at Jay-Z (F Jay z) and 50 Cent. The hounds ate these guys up. Arum, DeLaHoya, etc have a stronghold and itll never be let go of unless boxing becomes a league.

The headline next year is gonna be "Eddie Hearn Admits Matchroom USA Boxing Venture Has Stumbled a Bit"...

Getting in the boxing promotion business don't seem as easy as people think it is.

boxing is such a mess with all the differnt promoter issues network restricted fighters. I honestly feel like there is no room for a new promotional company to be successful on a larger scale

I agree. The big boys in the business see White as an infiltrator, not a partner. They'll fight him tooth and nail to keep what's theirs.

No shock here. Dana White is right boxing is extremely fragmented. Elite fights are getting harder to make and you have different promotional companies going down different roads.

PBC is stream lining more and more towards Showtime on a regular basis, Top Rank is obviously with ESPN, and now Matchroom Boxing now has the DAZN app.

The only company who is playing all sides is Golden Boy Promotions. They have done fights on HBO, Showtime, ESPN, and now facebook.

If Dana White and Oscar de la Hoya can somehow mend the bridges and work together then Dana could make a big move that way.

Otherwise I don't know how he can come in and yet create another company especially since he pretty much has stated that he won't work with any of the major promotional companies or networks.

Boxing is just not a good Investment, it is too unorganized and divided. You sign a good fighter then you will struggle to find dance partners for that fighter just like Eddie Hearn is discovering

                    UNLESS he works with Haymon!
