Many said the same about Larry Holmes, Young George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Mike Dokes, Sonny Liston and so many others. There's a thread here. Never heard anyone address Quarry or Cooney in racially repugnant terms. Well, possibly "Great White Dope".
Not possible Wilder's considered too African American by some? I'll respect that regardless of what sports and entertainment history dictates.Comment

A "polite" racist might say someone is "too African American". The truth is, one's inability to articulate speech is one thing, acting an ass is another. A racist might group these traits along with one being African American in order to fuel their insults. Many said the same about Larry Holmes, Young George Foreman, Mike Tyson, Mike Dokes, Sonny Liston and so many others. I recall when Michael Jordan first did interviews. His English was terrible, but he was a likeable, respectful man, who didn't act an ass. He apparently took speech lessons because his ability to articulate improved dramatically.
Wilder not only massacres the English language, he also sounds silly & ignorant as he tries to use words that he doesn't know how to use. On top of that, he talks a load of crap and sometimes acts quite the fool. As an African American, I cringe just about every time the man opens his mouth.Comment

imagine I am a famous artist. I have two paintings for sale, a large canvas and a smaller portrait. Someone offers me $1m for the larger painting but I refuse saying that it's worth much more.
A second buyer offers me $300k for the smaller painting and I accept believing it a fair offer.
Does the second decision tell you anything about whether I was justified in refusing the first offer?
I pretty much agree with this point. I don't think Wilder deserves 40% personally based on the disparity between the two fighters achievements and commercial pull but he should have a percentage split so that he shares in any upside should the fight exceed projections. That's fair and Hearn not offering him one does show him playing hardball.Joshua & Hearn wanted to give Wilder a flat fee only when he should be getting some percentage of the money. I agree he shouldn’t get 50%, but if they gave him 35-40% originally I’m almost sure the fight would have been made.Comment

Individuals from the southern states in the U.S., black and white, speak a different dialect of English. Some places it is extremely difficult to comprehend if you are not from that area, like the bayou, and some other places. It has nothing to do with intellectual capabilities. Michael Jordan grew up in the south also, thus he had to code switch, like Wilder does, to articulate his thoughts.A "polite" racist might say someone is "too African American". I know about southern accents. And I'm not talking about someone from Louisiana, who combines a southern US accent with broken French. It's not about the accent, it's about trying to use words that one doesn't know the meaning of nor the context in which to use them. My father told me if he came across a word that he didn't know, he looked it up in the dictionary. Wilder needs to educate himself.Individuals from the southern states in the U.S., black and white, speak a different dialect of English. I guess when the doctors told your father about "********" he didn't look up the word in the dictionary, otherwise he wouldn't have had you.I know about southern accents.
