Kov is in his twilight years and has very little time left. If i was him i would fight a karo murat/tommy karpency, badou jack then around this time next year fight alvarez, (if bivol hasnt stole alvarez belt already by that time). Alvarez definitely is a winnable fight as alvarez is no spring chicken and is only 1 year younger than kov ,if he stops lazing around and works on his stamina. By the way to those disrespectable ward fanboys kovs personal life should not affect his future hof standing i remember how ward ditched and tried to sue dan goosen who was dying of cancer< that imo is worse than any sort of subliminal light racism

Just to be clear, do you put Jack in the same category as Karpency and Murat? I think the current version of Jack beats Kovalev especially since Jack loves an inside fight with lots of body work.

Kovalev wasn't dominating the fight... He had one round that was dominant. In that round Alvarez stood his ground, started yelling at him, and punched him in the face to close out the round.

Alvarez was just bigger, stronger, and refused to get bullied by Kovalev. Unless, any of those things change, Kovalev won't win the rematch either.

That will never go away.

EXCEPT:
He is now OLD and looks the part.
His punch resistance is awful. He does not react well when hit cleanly any where around the head.
He still does not like it to the body.
His stamina is also awful. Age has not helped either.
His psych is also shot.

if he wants the rematch because of pride, he is likely to meet with the same fate.
If he is driven by making one last good pay day i can understand.

At this stage of his career, i just dont see him in any more gimme fights. Hopefully HBO does not entertain that nonsense...unless of course its off TV.

Kovalev as we used to know him is DONE and is not coming back.
