    Respect to Kovalev

It was sad seeing him lose the way he did against Alvarez but I don’t think there’s anything to be ashamed of. He was in their against the better guy who might just be a new player in the already stacked division. Kovalev deserves respect. Never ducked anyone, was always willing to fight just about anyone, and always gave the crowd a good fight with his entertaining style. I think he’s had a good boxing career and I would be ok if he were to retire now. Not sure if he’ll be the same monster that he was before but I’ll always support him.

Good fighter, he should have beaten ward on the first fight. People can also argue the other way, a toss up. Kolvalev was a55 hoe plain and simple. I liked him o well, Vodka shots for everybody. Cheers!!!

... it's nothing sad... that's how it goes -- all fighters get old...

Gave ward everything he could handle as well. Wished the second fight didn’t end the way it did though. Ward would’ve won but cmon lets see it.

            Respect.

                Agreed.

Very good fighter at his best and i still feel he should have an official win over Ward. No matter who you felt won that, he was neck and neck with with one of the very best of a generation at that point.

Ward had him figured out by the 2nd fight, with or without the low blows. That's what separates real great fighter from the very good but Kovalev was an excellent fighter at his best.

I think he relied on that fearsome reputation and feeling of invincibility. As soon as he lost that, it was over for him. Besides, he's 35 now. Not everyone can be Hopkins. He's at an age where you would really expect him to be on the way to being done at the top level.

I've always like Kovalev as a fighter. I never liked the racist comments he made. I thought Ward beat him both times but the first fight was razor thin. I had a feeling Alvarez was going to be a tough fight but I thought Kovalev would pull it off especially with the 14 month layoff. I'm wasn't glad to see him lose but this is what boxing is all about.
