Når folk siger "østeuropæere" skal det ikke forstås i en streng geografisk forstand. Ex-Soviet landene tælles med, hvide russere fra Asiens del af Rusland tælles med, osv. Mange siger bare "østeuropæere", men "slavs" ville nok være mere korrekt.

Ward then proceeded to do the same thing in the ring, spanking Kovalev and sparking a huge racist outcry about the decision. Ward then took it out of the hands of the judges and finished Kovalev in the rematch. Kovalev made excuses, blamed his trainer and then claimed to be a changed fighter. He then went on to easily beat two Eastern European opponents, before he got brutally knocked out by Alvarez, his first black opponent since Andre Ward... Say what you want, but Kovalev's career is not very good.
