Kov didn't learn from Ward 1 and especially Ward 2. When you get your ahss handed to you, it's time to take a stock check but Kov was still saying he was cheated and never changed a thing. His mindset is his weakness.
That was a fun fight. Hats off to Alvarez.

That's my take on it as well. Even up to the fight he kept making up excuses and spening too much energy on Jackson. Kovalov is a Great fighter that tries to do it on his own HIS way making lil to no adjustments.

I will say this Alvarez landed a BEUTIFUL punch and it would of TKO'd every current LHW if it landed the same way...

Not a glass chin, just bad stamina. He dropped Ward with a devastating punch in the first fight. Ward was hurt but his conditioning kept him in the fight. Kovalev as hurt worst but he also couldn't recover enough to stop the onslaught because he was already tired after he spent all that energy in the fourth.

I agree with you. I won’t say I was expecting but my prediction was Alvarez by decision.

Alvarez is an excellent fighter and IMO probably the best 175lbs fighter K ever faced. That doesn’t mean the best P4P fighter. What happened last night might very well have happened had Alvarez been his opponent years earlier and not Ward.

K never saw a jab like Alaverz’s. He never had an opponent who took his power shots and seemed unfazed, and even told him to bring it on. And he clearly was never hit as hard as he was. Ward tagged him good but Alvarez even better.

Some were making statements that Kovalev would beat Louis, Dempsey and Marciano believe it or not. Those that know what they are doing show patience and never exclaim a fighter as an ATG until they prove as such in the ring. Kovalev failed disastrously. He is not an elite fighter and never was.

Just this. He's too ''badass'' for his own good. It works against the guys below elite level but the top mofos just won't be intimidated by the scary aura he's trying to cultivate. Underneath that he's mentally vulnerable, as we have seen in Ward 2 and the other night. Back to the drawing board for Sergey. Alvarez was brave and impressive. A worthy champ.
