Is Buddy McGirt really a good trainer?

I have seen the Joel Julio fight yesterday and to my surprise Buddy McGirt is his trainer and a lot of people thought that Julio would pull this one out. This year really has not been a good for Buddy McGirt. If im not mistaken he has gone 1-3 this year with his boxers. Is it me or do most of his boxers just rely on power and not really the basics. Here are a list of those that have lost under McGirt this year that i know of Tarver, Brewster, and Julio with the exception of gatti.

I personaly dont blame Mcgirt because if his fighters dont listen theirs nothing he can do. Mcgirt might as well of just laced up a pair of gloves against hopkins cause he sure as hell would of done alot more than Tarver was doing

Those loses aern't his fault... Tarver looked incredibly weak, Brewster suffered a ditached retina and he would have won no doubt had that not happend.

He seems like a solid trainer.

McGirt should've told Julio that you need a knockout in rounds 11 & 12, he didn't! Do I think McGirt is a good trainer? I think he's as good as Manny Steward. Both overrated in my book!

i was thinking the same thing. just watching his past two fights, it is like he has no plan b. telling julio and tarver to throw the jab in the eleventh, when the fight is obviously out of reach? i cant see how that is good training

in the 2 fights i've seen mcgirt, hes given poor advice both times. he was telling tarver to jab every round of the fight, even in the 10th and on he was telling him not to go head hunting, work behind the jab . he was telling julio the same thing even though he was clearly behind in the fight and needed a KO to win. so yeah , who knows

his fighters need to stick to a gameplan.. tarver was completely helpless in that fight.. kayo's right.. he might as well just fought hopkins himself... there was definately something eating tarver than night.. and bhop wouldnt let him do anything..

hes definately a solid trainer who knows the game and was a great fighter himself.. after seeing the tarver bhop countdown.. i really didnt see tarver boxing much.. the majority of his training seemed to be conditioning.. any1 else notice that?

i dont know im not really prone to trainers like mcgirt he seems okay but tarver, gatti, brewster, now julio have all lost under his command
though i shouldnt count gatti because mayweather is his biggest exception

but im more into like, a no bull**** trainer like dan birmingham (winkys trainer)

I think he is a good trainer, but he gives HORRIBLE instructions to his fighter when they are losing. He did it to tarver by telling him to jab and stay away from hopkins in the last few rounds.

ANd he never told Julio to go for the KO when he clearly needed it!!!
