Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia: Spence More Important To Me Than Pacquiao

WBC, IBF lightweight champion Mikey Garcia (39-0, 30 KOs) is far more interested in a showdown with IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence than a possible clash with Manny Pacquiao (60-7-2, 39 KOs).

Have got to commend Mikeys resolve, he wants Spence and to win that fight would be bigger than any single achievement on Mannys record, he must see something in Spence he feels he can take advantage off I cant see how he can beat Spence but I cannot deny the respect I give Mikey for taking it.

If Garcia were to beat Manny the word that would be heard loudest would be Manny was shot so I can see why he would rather Spence even though on paper Manny is the easier fight.

It doesn't have to be either or. He could face Pacquiao first and then move to 147 and not even face Spence in his first fight at 147. But he seems to be determined to push forward to make the fight despite what anybody says.

It's not a given Mikey beats Manny although that's a hard fight for Manny due to Mikeys movement (which we haven't seen much of lately, but we would against Manny or Errol).

I have Mikey 60/40 over Manny and 40/60 against Errol. Mikey is no doubt more skilled than Errol, but also 2 weight classes smaller

That being said I have already stated I strongly believe Manny destroys Spence - even today. Mannys style would cause Spence nightmares...manny is faster, as powerful, and has very fast feet.

Spence leaves himself wide open when he starts teeing off on opponents who stand right in front of him - like a heavybag. Manny is no heavy bag and he can throw hurting punches while moving.

I like TC to beat Manny, Mikey, and Errol in different fashion b/c of styles though

Mikey is right, he can fight Spence and then Manny.
He knows Manny will mess up his plan to fight Spence.

How would Spence trump anything on Mannys resume? Yes the weight advantage is commendable but Spence’s resume is paper thin. His best win was even until the stoppage, and the stoppage was coincidentally the same injury he suffered in his last fight, albeit on the other side. That tells me Brook has a considerable issue with his face...

...okay, okay Mikey, we all know what you've been saying, but if we don't actually hear in two weeks about this fight being done....it was just talk all along! I mean you were saying this before the Easter fight, and lately Spence wants to do it...who's doing the negotiations??

So beating a guy who's beaten basically nobody is a bigger achievement than anything Manny has accomplished? Lol, you Floyd stans can really go overboard sometimes.
