Comments Thread For: Usyk's Promoter: Bellew Fight is Something The World Wants

Alexander A. Krassyuk, General Director of K2 Promotions, Ukraine and promoter of Oleksandr Usyk has confirmed his team's number one choice is to enter the heavyweight division in the near future and face a marquee name opponent to taste the waters before an ultimate showdown against WBA/IBF/WBO/IBO unified titleholder Anthony Joshua.

Not particularly. I'd much rather see Bellew v Fury.

Usyk should dare Kovalev to be great and come up to Cruiserweight, granted it would be for a lot less money.

Usyk would make some good coin Vs. Bellew + it would be a guaranteed sell out.
The fight would give Usyk a taste of the bigtime & set him up for big things should he win.

Make this ASAP. (Both deserve the payday)

I dislike Bellew. I have no respect for a heavyweight that tells his promoter, point blank, that he wouldn't step inside a ring with Wilder. Not that I would even want to see Wilder/Bellew, I just think he needs to establish a weight class identity. He seems to be floating somewhere between a heavyweight and a cruiserweight, and not wanting to challenge for a heavyweight title.

WBC has Bellew as "emeritus"... WBO has Usyk as mandatory for Joshua...

I guess its similar to Wilder telling Finkel after a belt and 30 fights that he wouldn't fight Klitschko because he was a "baby heavyweight" and not ready.

At least they both admitted they weren't going to step up rather than bluff.

I agree! That's a good fight. Bellew is a lot better now that he's moved up and no longer cutting weight to make 175.

That just means that he's smart and he's really a cruiserweight now anyways. He has no business fighting above 205.

That’s a bit harsh. He stepped up for the retirement payday against Haye. I personally think he should walk away but if he is sticking around, there’s no way he should be giving away that much height and reach against the likes of Wilder. At least Usyk has an equaliser in terms of outrageous skill (beyond that of anyone else at HW), so he’d Come up against the big boys armed.
