    Boxing = magical?

Could you define boxing as a magical sport?

In every other sport, the sport seems to evolve. Boxing does the same, but when you ask fans, boxing is some magical sport which doesn't evolve...

Look how soccer has improved through time. Maradona was nice and all, but we all know Messi, Ronaldo and several others have surpassed him by now.

Look how powerlifters are getting stronger and stronger, how runners are getting faster and faster, the same goes for swimmers, etc.

Also, in MMA, no one would be ****** enought o claim that Royce Gracie still is the greatest fighter and that BJJ alone is enough to wreck everyone, we now know that the best fighter is a more wellrounded fighter (such as Georges St Pierre, Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, etc.)

Yet, when it comes to boxing... People seriously think that guys like Joe Louis and Muhammad Ali would be able to walk in and easily beat the **** out of way bigger and way better guys than they ever fought, such as Lewis, Klitschko, etc. If you ask "best heavyweights of all time", it's like some ****** cult of fans that refuses to see any evolution.

Honestly, do any of you idiots imagine little Joe Frazier doing better than the much bigger Chisora did while dwarfed against Tyson Fury, a reachy, fast and defensively smart guy??

Why is boxing the only sport that doesn't evolve with time? Why does it devolve? Why does the boxers get worse and worse while the fighters get bigger and bigger?

Good post and I completely agree! Boxing, just like any other sport has also evolved.

    It's all nostalgia bias

I agree. Deontay would definitely beat Lewis and AJ would beat any heavyweight in history. In fact...in 20 years from now AJ will be revered by all like Ali is with today's crowd.

A major difference is that boxing was (I say without proof) way more popular back in the day.

The popularity of a sport dictates its talent pool.

So while sports generally see its top-level athletes progress skill-wise, a fall in popularity may hinder that progress.

            I disagree.

            I mean, look at trolling.

Clearly, the trolls on here are not evolving at all-same goofy names, same obvious baiting, same method of dipping in too quickly, same annoying BS over and over, same writing style, same negative post every time, same target crowd.

Your the ****** one thinking fat Fury who was damn near KO by mediocre cruiserweight Cunningham is the best heavyweight of all time. you confuse big with good. The great smaller heavyweights of the past would indeed beat the giant Fury in my opinion. They had giant boxers in the old days too. Boxers just as big and strong as Fury and little Dempsey and Louis knocked these giants out with no problem. Louis, Dempsey, Marciano and Ali, Foreman, Liston and other past great heavyweights were miles better than Cunningham. The world record for the mile run was 3 minutes and 49 seconds in 1975 and now 43 years later the world record for the mile is 3 minutes and 43 seconds. That's a tiny improvement of 6 seconds in 43 years. Is that the great improvement in sports over the years you are talking about? That lousy 6 second improvement could be accounted for by better running shoes, a better track surface or better nutrition and training methods. It sure is not proof today's runners are better than the runners of 43 years ago. MMA is a new sport that is evolving but will soon start to level off. Boxing has been around for several hundred years and the boxers of 50 60 or 70 years ago had the same moves and skills of today's boxers. If you can watch film of the prime Ali fighting Williams and say sloppy fighters like Fury and Wilder struggling with Cunningham and Molina are better, faster and more skilled I say you are nuts.

You must be a troll to think Fury as the best heavyweight of any era.
                  Lol. You are a fool.

It is okay for you to say this, but as you can see on the posts above, it's not okay for new members to say it without being labelled as trolls. It's as if there is some secret demand on this site for all of its members to act ******ed and biased in order to not be called trolls by the white World of Warcraft-playing members here who are sick of getting bullied by the black kids at school....
