I used to like him from when he as an up an comer now I'm just indifferent to him due to his constant b.s of calling for fights and then turning them down. I like his technique and enjoy his style (though I do think he's become overrated) if he fights Spence next he'll have won me back over if he opts not to despite making all that noise I'll probably relegate him from indifferent towards to not care for/boycott until he fights someone elite or someone he says he's going to fight.
The whole Spence thing sounds like he's just trying to look like he wants the biggest and best fights in an attempt to build his brand and drum up more interest. I'll hold my hands up and admit I'm wrong happily if he does step up but I don't see it. I understand not every fight can happen and there's reasons fights fall apart but when you've called Gamboa, Linares (twice), Cotto etc; out and then got the offers and not taken them occasionally it's on you especially since those guys fought guys like Crawford and Lomachenko instead (i.e clearly wanting elite opponents). I see the Spence thing falling the same way and it won't be on Spence because he's legitimately been ducked, is desperate for a name opponent and will be an easy deal to make.Comment

I like Mikey and don't get the sense he has alot of haters outside of the very worst part of Loma's fanbase and the posters that hate everything associated with Floyd/Haymon/Showtime.Comment

In each of the examples you cite, Mikey turned the deal down because each initial offer came with promoter options for fights. I completely understand why the promoters did that (you give a guy a chance you want to reap some benefits).I used to like him from when he as an up an comer now I'm just indifferent to him due to his constant b.s of calling for fights and then turning them down. The thing is Mikey had just sued to get from under a promoter so those offers were surely going to be turned down because he didn't want to be tied to any individual promoter so he could have control over his career.
Is that really something we to hold against him or criticize him for?Comment

The Cotto one came with 3 fights I believe, but they were good fights - Cotto, Mattheyse, Linares with what I'm sure were good paydays. I doubt he could have gotten three bigger fights and paydays guaranteed like that.In each of the examples you cite, Mikey turned the deal down because each initial offer came with promoter options for fights. Linares came with no additional just a straight up one off fight no strings attached.
Gamboa I understand came with an extension but not a bad thing. Mikey was getting good promotion, fighting regularly and earning well and they delivered an opponent he "demanded". That extension was reasonable but I understand him wanting to try a different way, sure.
Uchiyama could have happened when he was happy with TR also but I understand not every fight happens.Comment

I can appreciate how you feel about the deals but you shouldn't hold against a fighter his wanting to be in control of his own career. The Cotto one came with 3 fights I believe, but they were good fights - Cotto, Mattheyse, Linares with what I'm sure were good paydays. They all initially came with promoter options. Yes, once the options were taken off Mikey could've made those fights but I think we can agree going on another promoter's card without options is a recipe for some questionable judging and reffing.Comment
