It's fair to say that Chisora deserves a shot, but he'd just be fodder for Wilder. Takam doesn't hit particularly hard and he was beating Chisora up and had him in trouble at a few points. If he gets hits by Wilder's bombs it'll be very different. He's only been badly knocked out by David Haye, and he doesn't want a repeat of that.

He got put away by a semi-retired Haye and would be retired himself after Wilder cripples an even more worn out version of Chisora. There were stages where you can tell the ref was thinking about stopping the fight when Takam unloaded on him.

By cherry pick you mean Luis Ortiz (the guy AJ never spoke of despite him being a mandatory)? Pretty sure Stiverne was ranked high when he had the belt as well.

Chisora gets destroyed...No way is he gonna eat Wilder right hands. No HW fighting today will be able to absorb them without memory loss and a change of attitude after waking up.

exactly..with all the talk of wilders padded record he went and fough ortiz who is the best pure boxer in the heavyweight division. Aj has never taken a challenge on like this on the contrary he has avoided ortiz like the plague!

People forget that Ortiz was AJ's mandatory and even signed up with Hearn on a fight by fight basis to get the fight. AJ never even whispered Ortiz's name as even a potential future opponent...kinda tells you the mindset and direction they were headed yet even after failing a drug test Wilder gave him a chance and took him on.

Chisora is absolute garbage. I put money on him to beat Tyson , he lost, I put money on him to beat Whyte , he tried but still lost. Then I put money and watched a Bosnian or Turkish fighter I have never heard of embarrass him. Now I thought Takam vs Chisora , Takam I will obliterate him so my money is going down on Takam. That Chisora has lost me so much money over the years( oh I lost him vs David Haye too) Takam admittedly is a good name on his record but that’s it . Chisora is just a level above Dave Allen how the hell does he get a title shot. How about the Bosnian that embarrased him a year ago? I will give him his kudos just when he should be thrown in the trash with Dog poop �� he pulls out a freak victory like this. He is a fellow African so I can’t bash him too much but he is commonwealth level at best with world level African brute strength

I think part of the problem is that he never actually took it too seriously. You can say that 3 of his losses are from shear lack of focus/discipline.

He seems to have matured both as a fighter and a person (Whyte sounds like Chisora 5 years ago) and realized that he has maybe one last throw of the dice.

Similar to how they said Froch was done and then his promoter secured him a shot against Bute, no one thought he'd win and he went in there and just battered him.

I think Chisora has maybe 3 more tough fights in him. Best of luck to him I hope he wins a title.

In answer to another posters query in regards to who I think are big hitters at heavweight (I'm talking about sole punching power here, not overall ability to chill your ****ing beans before you post)

Whyte - body shots
Price - Massive right hand
AJ - Right hand/uppercut
Miller
Bellew

All 5 are big hitters - What have 4 of them got in common...

yip after the klitschko fight ortiz was promised the fight and they renaged on the deal..eddie hearn is quite the contradictory character
