Not sure why people have a problem with this fight. It's interesting as both guys would be each other's best opponent to date.

Mikey would otherwise fight some scrub at 135 next and they're lining up Alexander/Berto/Ugas/journeyman for Spence next. This fight is much better and intriguing.

... Garcia in Oct 2014: "Right now, I’m walking around at 156, but I was as high as 161."
... Garcia in Jul 2018: "A natural 150, 152 is average for me. We don’t really gain a whole lot of weight, you know. It’s just natural weight. And as soon as we start working out, you know, the weight starts to drop, pretty comfortable. We pick up the intensity and stricken the diet a little bit more and we cut down but it’s not that challenging."

You are correct. Can't blame Spence for taking this fight. A big payday and an easier fight than Bud Crawford!

I understand your position (and it makes a lot of sense); however, it seems to me that Mikey is thinking out of the box (at least for boxing in 2018) and is looking at his legacy rather than keeping a loss free record. So, even if he loses to Spence, which appears to be what is expected by most, Mikey is building his legacy. At least that's my interpretation of what's going on.

Here is the thing, IF Mikey beats Spence-WOW!!!! He is the biggest star in boxing just like that. And who is to say he can’t beat Danny, Porter, Thurman, or Brooks. Much respect to Mikey for wanting this fight, he is becoming a fan favorite. I am a fan now; he has a lot of balls, Damn!!!

Respect to Garcia. None of the WWs seem to want to fight Spence. He's willing to take a risk, and credit to him for that.

As with the GGG/Brook, Canelo/Khan fights, I don't give the guy moving up any chance to win against a top quality, bigger fighter.

I know there is problems that arise with the top WWs facing eachother, which limit the fights available. But calls for fights like Spence/Crawford to marinate, while there is talk of Crawford vs a 40 year old Manny, and Spence vs a guy jumping up in weight, isn't what sets the pulse racing.

I get it if it sells, and makes them money. It's a big miss-match though IMO.

Manny Pacquiao is the best boxer Mikey Garcia can fight. It's a toss up but I will bet my money for Manny Pacquiao. With Spence? Mikey don't push your luck too hard, it may not be wise move yet. Beat Manny (if you can) then push through with Spence. That makes more sense to me.

mikey has the skills to hang with Spence, whether he can win that fight will remain to be seen

Spence wont get any credit for the win tho

Too bad Spence cant lick his chops for a danny garcia fight. Not so much enthusiasm there. A mickey fight is a mismatch and im not sure why mikey is calling spence out. Not a wise dirrection imo

I think Mikey truly believes he can beat Spence. That's enough for me. Spence doesn't back away from a fight so what else you expect him to say?
