You know that I love to watch boxers so you know that I loved watching Quintana tonight. I never saw him before but I liked Julio so much that I was going to bet on him Knocking Quintana out. That was until I heard some positive reviews of him on here and saw that he was a lefty. He is a poor version of the perfect boxer. If you wanted to make a perfect boxer then he would be a great defensive lefty, who was slick, and had KO power and could fight equaly well coming forward as going backward. That is Quintana.
I loved the way how he came out boxing like Sweet Pea and frustrated the **** out of Julio. I loved how he reacted to the Knock Down like a true Champ. The thing I was most of all impressed by was how he completely boxed, moved, and back peddled for like the 1st 6 rounds, but then completely changed into a stalker who was walking down the heavy hitting Julio. You never see fighters be able to do that like he did. It was so funny because early on when Julio got frustrated, he stopped in the Center of the ring and yelled/waived Quintana to fight him but by the end of the fight, he was the one almost running and not fighting.
He beat Julio so easy that you still dont know how good he is. I mean its easy to see that he's good but is he good enough to be on the elite level? The only bad thing about him is that he's 29, so the time for him is now. I would love to see him against any of the top guys and I think he should get a fight right now against either Callazo or Williams. One other thing I almost forgot was his chin. He got hit with some monster punches and never blinked once. I think that fully discouraged Julio.
The perfect fight I would love to see is him vs Cotto in PR. That fight would be big. Hatton stepped up to 147 and took on a good Southpaw in his 1st fight so I would love to see Cotto do the same. Quintana is not big like Callazo but Callazo doesnt have the pop like Quintana. It should be fun to watch how 147 plays out. When I was watching, I was thinking too myself that Julio's managment is a fool for putting him in with a undefeated Southpaw at this stage but after the fight, I heard Max say that they didnt want to but I guess they were forced if they wanted to be the #1 contender for the WBA
