He's not ready for Hurd. He needs more time in the gym. Maybe a new trainer.

Why? Even if he lost it would be a better learning curve than fighting cans.
Too many people see a loss as the end but if its to a better boxer he will learn more losing to a great fighter than knocking out cherrys.
Thats the problem atm fighters care too much about the 0 and that's cause of all the casuals that make it seem as though its carreer ending to get a loss.

I give him a much better chance of beating them than you do. I think his chances of winning over Hurd and Charlo are very good. Both Hurd and Jermell are good fighters but they are flawed and make mistakes just like Munguia. Munguia is young but he is a world champion. That implies he is the best fighter his weight in the world and should be ready for any 154 pound fighter in the world including the other champions. Learning is for contenders. Champions should be willing to fight other champions or they are not real champions. The time for on the job training should end when you win that world title. Trinidad and Vargas were younger than Munguia when they won their world titles and they would fight any contender or champion. If a boxer is not yet ready to fight the best then don't go winning a world title and then avoid the best fighters in your weight class for a year or two because you are too young and need to learn.

Jermell got dropped by Charles Bellamy (Charlie Ota at the time of the fight) at around 2:49 of the third.

You can go down against anyone. They key is getting back up. It's hen you don't or aren't able to which separates the good from the great. Munguia has a lot to learn. We all saw it last night. As long as he's guided right he will be ok. This fight exposed some of his flaws. Blatant flaws, but he went 12 and He's always big with me.
