Is it worth it for Lomachenko to move up to 140 to fight a legend?

If he wants greatness and legacy then there is no better opponent out there for him than Manny Pacquiao. Not to mention that it would be a huge payday as well.

Or is junior welterweight simply too much of a jump in weight and asking too much of him?

Yes, it's worth it. Dare to be great, test yourself against a legend!

No, it's not worth it. Lomachenko should never fight at 140 lbs. Too big of a weight jump for him.

Why does everyone want this fight with PAC man? Havent we learned anything with Oscar de la hoya? Passing-of-the-torch fights are sadistic, If we háve Lomachenko fight at Júnior welterweight, he should fight a fresher titleholder. Lets quit doing this to the older fighters.

I'm honestly not that interested in a Pacman showdown for Loma. I'd rather see him fight Mikey Garcia and clear out 135.

At 140lbs is a total mismatch. Pac will walk right through loma. This fight should only be made at 135 to be a fair fight.

Can Manny make 135 safely at his age?

If pac himself say that he can still make 135 then i believe him. That would be a very good and even fight.

No it isn't worth it and he doesn't need to anyway. Pacquiao said he can make 135 no problem. He said he weights 141 pounds when not in training. He has to eat lots of food just to get up near welterweight. When he weighs in for a welterweight fight he weighs in on a full stomach and full of liquid. He does no drying out because he doesn't need to. He isn't a true welterweight under today's weigh in the day before the fight rules. He is really a lightweight and he will fight Loma at 135. Loma is a natural featherweight and should never fight above 135. He is 30 years old. His growing days have been over for years.

Honestly, weight wise it appears that loma caps at 130, he's just not that big. That Linares fight was a good indicator he has no business at 135, but since he's so skilled he can overcome it. 140 is definitely suicide for him regardless of his skill.

I don't think it would be wise for Pacquiao to move down all the way to 135 at this stage in his career even though I still view him as a 140 pounder. I don't doubt he can make 135, but he hasn't made that weight in more than 10 years. It's bound to have some sort of effect on him and I'd hate to see him walk into the ring drained.

If they ever fight and Pacquiao for some reason makes the weight comfortably without being drained he puts Loma on ice. And that's no knock on Loma, since I view him at most as a 130 pounder.

No. What's the upside if he beats Pacquiao? A large number of people just gonna play the what if game... "But if it was Prime Pacquiao!!!"

If he loses he lost an old Pacquiao.

I don't think it makes as much as Pacquiao is hoping for either.

No he just got to 135 and got dropped by Linares who has average power. Its not always about money. Manny needs to fight a welterweight(Broner,Khan, etc) or move down to 135 if he wants the fight so bad.
