Yeah, right, a Mexican almost 40 years old, Marquez almost killed him (Manny), left him unconscious a few minutes, looking dead.
Another Mexican, past-prime Morales gave him a boxing lesson, and then lost pathetically in their other two fights because he was over the hill at that point, same thing with Barrera. In fact I don't remember Manny having fought any big-name Mexican IN HIS VERY PRIME, not even Marquez.
Also De La Hoya IS NOT MEXICAN, what an ignorant writer, he is American, even if he has dual citizenship, he has always fought for the US, even got a gold Olympic medal. What ignorance my God. Also, he was beyond past prime when he fought Manny, and drained as heck. Good victory yes, but against a man who was a shadow of himself at best.
Same story with Margarito, he fought him after the whole scandal with Mosley and the glove wraps, that ruined Margarito's career. He did not fight him in his prime either.
His most impressive victories will always be the one vs. Hatton and Cotto. Defeating a past-prime, super-tired, slow and staminaless Barrera has no merit. And even so in both fights, when Barrera still had some stamina, Manny got bunches of hard punches that he absorbed IDK how.
So Matthysse is a total fool saying such ****** comments, clearly he really doesn't know the real history between Manny and Mexican boxers. The way he lost vs. Marquez says it all. He almost got killed by a 40-year old guy. And all other three fights they had were controversial, very VERY competitive.
I hope Mathysse gets a monumental beating from an old Manny and shuts the heck up afterwards because the three Mexican legends that fought Manny as in Marquez, Barrera and Morales, in their prime and at their most comfortable weight, would have easily put a huge beating on this mediocre Argentinian. Not to mention Manny himself in his prime, he would have kiled him.
