Yes that is very possible and something Dana & Al continue to discuss. But it would take a lot of money and a long term commitment to get Al to torch the bridge with Showtime like that.

True however I believe this is the move for 2018-2019. Fox is set to spend crazy money on tv sports rights and are focusing more in on international sports such as soccer. (so it seems) if showtime isn't willing to anti up the money or put more shows on showtime I don't see why AL would stick with them.

So far, Showtime has increased the budget whenever necessary to retain Al's stable. He's sitting in a pretty good spot right now. Arum's stable is now locked in long term at a very good price for ESPN. Hearn has a great deal with DAZN in theory, but if it doesn't take off, DAZN can cancel the deal two years in.

Meanwhile Al has complete devotion from CBS, but can bolt at any time. Which keeps the pressure on CBS to keep the money coming.

however with pbc negotiating with other networks CBS has got to find a way to step up their game. Showtime doesn't have the type of exposure fox or espn does. Also the amount of dates they currently give pbc cant sustain they're whole roster.

Showtime cant be the impetus of growth that the pbc is looking for. And to be honest I don't believe fox and Showtime together is enough either. If they cant find away to get work with top rank or push bob arum out of ESPN their product will never become mainstream or be what I believe the goal for it was.

and why cant the promoters pressure the IBF, WBO or WBC to create multiple belts?

one thing to not want to make a major change and create something new, another thing to want to make a major change and take something away promoters were already relying on.

US Boxing would benefit greatly from a dominant league the way other sports have here. PBC is in the best position to make that happen.

Sure you would still have different champions recognized in Europe, but for the US viewer, there would be one champion to follow instead of four. Europe crowns their own basketball champion, but nobody here cares. They just watch the NBA.

But what would be ideal doesn't change what actually is. The current set up of the sport, and it's been this way for decades, is that promoters, networks, managers, etc care far more about controlling belts than they do controlling fighters. As long as you have belts, you have power. It's been this way for a very long time.

Laughable to bring up Ryan Garcia when he's making 25k per fight. Unless he's able to win a world title, he's never going to make big money. Making big money without ever winning a world title is nearly impossible. The entire business model of the sport is to try to get a belt so you can finally get big TV dates.

Ryan Garcia is a future PPV fighter

EVERYONE can see that, which is why they are all fawning over him lol

anyway, aside from your nonsense..... the WBC are shht

                just so ya know

Canelo is the only PPV A-side left in US boxing. PPV is dying. There may never be a future PPV star, Ryan Garcia or otherwise. You typically become a PPV star off the backs of previous PPV stars. Who can Ryan Garcia fight to become a PPV star?

He's only just become North American champion. Too soon to know if he can become world champion and if he does, whether he can be built into a PPV attraction at a time PPV is dying off.

Regardless, he has 0% chance of becoming PPV attraction without the ABC belts. So your position still makes no sense.

your position..... having your nose permanently glued to Sulaiman's ass..... still makes no sense

which PPV star did Hoya beat to become a PPV star ?

which PPV star did Canelo beat to become a PPV star ?

Ryan Garcia is going to be HUGE if he keeps winning

First of all, I never said beat, so don't move the goal posts. Canelo got the rub from facing Mayweather, raising his profile even in defeat. Then overpaid Cotto so he could beat Cotto and cement himself as the new PPV king.

PPV stars aren't invented out of thin air. They have to face other top stars the public is willing to pay for and then eventually take the place of those stars.

Considering there is only one US PPV star in the entire sport right now, it's not a given that Garcia will become a PPV attraction, especially when everything is moving towards streaming subscriptions.
