The 50 million dollar offer was based on a statement made in an interview by Joshua saying that he doesn’t believe that the fight generates 100 million.

Right, but what you're leaving out is that behind the scenes, Team AJ & Team Wilder had been arguing about how much more the fight would generate in the US vs. the UK. Team AJ was claiming the fight would do 40 million in the UK and 45-50 million in the US. Team Wilder was claiming the fight would do 100 million in the US.

So AJ said, I don't believe it'll do that much in the US, if that's really true, give me 50 and I'll sign tomorrow.

Team Wilder agreed to the proposal. Then Team AJ reneged.

Nobody knows what's going on behind the scenes except the fighter's representatives and maybe the fighters themselves. If you are making your argument based on supposedly having inside information about what was said behind the scenes and not what is out there for the public to see it's kind of moot because I could just decide not to believe what you're saying. And Joshua had already made it clear that he wanted the fight in the UK before 50 million dollars was ever mentioned. So that throws the whole idea of accepting the money and letting Wilder decide where the fight would take place out of the window.

Have no problem with you not believing me. But I shouldn't have to pretend I'm a fan when I'm not. The fight business is how I've made my living my entire life. I'm going to have some insight a fan may not have. If you think I'm lying and want to ignore me, I won't be offended in the least.

hes the B side. he doesnt dictate anything and he knows it. its the anthony joshua show and hes earnt it by taking the risks that wilder never took and moving his career on quickly. no other fighter has had problems with negotiating with hearn, only wilder.

I'm not saying that I think you're lying. I'm just saying that you have nothing to substantiate what you're saying other than claiming to have inside information. And even if you really do work in the industry it doesn't mean that your information is accurate if you didn't receive it first hand. And I don't remember hearing Joshua say anything about the U.S. If my memory serves me he only mentioned the amount of money not location. Deontay Wilder could have had this fight signed already if he wanted to. It would have been a risk to fight in the UK without a rematch clause for himself. But it would be worth it with a chance to unify, make 15 million and win over all of the UK fans. With all of the confidence and bluster that Wilder projects you would think that he would have had a similar attitude as Errol Spence did about fighting Kell Brook in the UK. Of course Joshua could have accepted Wilder's offer too but Joshua earned the right to call the shots by winning a gold medal in the Olympics, entering the pro's as a hot prospect and taking big fights early in his career. And he sells out stadiums. Deontay Wilder hasn't done the same so he shouldn't expect to be able to call the shots.

I thought about it, and I guess at this point with that many belts, they can't just come out and say "oh he's not ready yet". So there's this ridiculous posturing by Hearn's smart mouth (favorite promoter, by the way) to shift blame for it falling through. If they don't make the fight next, it will look REALLY bad for AJ.

And now they're saying Wilder should get less than the initial offering of 15 million because AJ will be more famous and it will go from being a 50 mil fight to a 100 mil fight? 15 of 50 was 30%. So they don't even want to offer him 15 mil/(15%) of 100 now? Absurdities at this stage. Both of these guys are awesome. They should want this fight asap. I think Tyson Fury is a turd the majority of the time, but I love that he's not afraid to lose and wants the top names (even when he's not ready yet lol).

So frustrating...it didn't have to go this way...

Imagine what would have happened if Joshua had said
he needed one more tune up before the Wilder fight. He would have been praised for being upfront with the boxing community and the haters would have been ignored. Wilder would have been disappointed, but he probably would have respected Joshua's honesty and may even have agreed to a co-promotion, maybe even agreeing to fight Whyte. More people would have tuned in to assess the Povetkin fight, with an added bonus of the Wilder-Whyte fight. The Povetkin fight wouldn't have felt like such a let down, and the Wilder undisputed fight would have been welcomed for April...
