Comments Thread For: Manny Pacquiao - A Last Good Memory

Start with the obvious. Manny Pacquiao isn't really Manny Pacquiao anymore. That's not just a reflection of an athlete nearing forty. He's not the same attraction, the same revenue generator, the same front-page megastar he was a decade ago. That's almost how long it's been since he went supernova as a global sports star. The then-29 year old Pacquiao was already one of the sports biggest names before the Oscar De La Hoya win in December 2008. That moment, even with no title on the line, elevated him and he stayed in rare air for years afterward as a draw and talent.

He hasn't been the same since 2010. And Age always wins.

Pacquiao was a hall of famer before he went up to 140 and begin his tear through Diaz, De La Hoya, Hatton, Cotto, Margarito, etc. What Pacquiao did was simply amazing. Great fighters usually have one last great performance in them. Will it be Matthysse? Not sure to be honest. If Pacquiao didn't do the Horn rematch I wanted him to retire but hey we're here now on fight week. With that being said I'm supporting Pacquiao and hope he gets the win. There's no changing the fact that he's going to fight this weekend. We're in for a treat regardless. Pacquiao is all time great and living legend.

Pacquiao fully understands what is at stake in this bout and will show all the best he has left at this point. I think it won't be possible to win Pacquiao on points this time as he will do everything to take this one. So Matthysse will go for knockout and everything depends on Matthysse's current shape and focus

If the pacman looses to LM its time to hang the gloves up. If pacman doesn’t stop LM he should consider hanging the gloves up. LM is a bit overrated this even after being humbled in the ring live on national tv a few times but because he has power for some reason people still believe in him. Aside from a punchers chance and pacmans age he really has no chance he is way too slow hes not crafty enough and he doesn’t have the greatest timing nor the size without those assets normally spells trouble for pacmans opponents.

Because with pacman and LM styles plus how slow LM is pacman should run him thru the blender. If pacman is 70-80% of his former self LM will probably be stopped on cuts or a sustained beating. So anything less then pacman by total domination is too far gone to continue for me without concern that the brutal end is near.

wtf??? if he beat lucas clearly on points how are you concern that the brutal end is near? lucas is a power puncher! one that many posters on here have been saying pac's been avoiding. if he beat lucas clearly on points, it shows that he's not that far gone.
