Comments Thread For: DeGale: Benavidez is Possible, Eubank Jr. May Get His Wish!

Former two-time IBF super middleweight world champion James DeGale (24-2-1, 14 KOs) is looking for some big money options in the coming months. DeGale made a lot of headlines recently, when he vacated his IBF world title purse other options.

Benavidez would tear him apart. Prime DeGale would be a different story.

Benavidez would KILL DeGale. Chunky needs to hold out for the winner of Groves/Smith, that's where the most money we'll be. I guess Eubank would be a good consolation prize if he can't get the other fight

Unfortunately James doesn't actually have that many options. Eubank Jr is one, Groves / Smith winner is the other. If Groves wins that then I don't think the Degale fight happens because George will want (and will deserve) a much higher split. Without that belt Degale doesn't have much of a bargaining chip there and will have to take a very small cut, which he won't because of his ego.

Eubank is his best option for a big payday and a winnable fight. He is past his best though and is pretty easily outworked, so much so that clumbsy old Eubank might even beat him.

Eubank vs Degale will be great.

Ramirez & Benavidez will tear Degale apart.

No sense in James dropping the IBF if David Benavidez was the target ; unification trumps mando. Remember 'Chunky' already tried once vs. Badou Jack to win the WBC and came up short.

E.U bum jr. has been exposed, I don't think this justifies dropping the IBF -- this is coming from a big 'Chunky' fan. Disappointing.

I think they’d both have a good chance of beating him

DeGale challenging Benavidez make perfect sense. The WBC have decreed that there champion has to defend against the Groves/Smith winner.

Laughable, go fight that bum Eubank and then retire. He'll never fight Benavidez, if he was honest about facing him he would have kept the title and do a unification. DeGale is done and has one cashout left, probably vs Eubank.

I think he is just informing everyone of his options. He has absolutely no intention of stepping within a 200 mile radius of Ramirez or David Benavidez. He had a war with Truax who is a nice guy but Garbage compared to the top guys. Degale can not cut it amongst the elite no more.

Usually when you relinquish your belt especially at the stage of Degale’s career your other option should be set in stone. He doesn’t want any smoke. He is from my adopted area Harlesden, he should just come home and relax and stop mentioning boxers he has no intention of fighting
