I remember in the not so distant past non-American fighters were criticized for staying their home countries, a lot of times being seen as holding belts hostage. But now that a popular champion is using it as an excuse to avoid his toughest challenge, the tables have turned. And you even have fans applauding this bull****. Like it or not. A foreign fighter fighting an American fighter in America is more of a neutral site game than visa versa.
Being “American” isn’t really a hometown advantage. If a boxer from Florida is fighting a boxer from puerto rico in nyc or an irish or even an english fighter in the northeastern states or a mexican boxer out west the foreign fighter has the hometown advantage.
Look at the gift hatton got with collazo
Well he’s main eventig a ppv so he’ll make a lot more than the 375k he would’ve got for going to Bulgaria I don’t know exactly how much he’s making.
Boxing is a business. I don’t see any disgrace in taking a harder, more marketable fight at home for more money. It’s unfortunate for pulev but that’s the way the world works sometimes.
Well how much will he make? Didn’t Brook make about 200k when he was headlining shows in the uk?
Oh and Parker is rubbish. He may be marketable rubbish to uk fans due to him going 12 with aj, but those in the know knows he is trash. Pulev is a much better boxer.
AJ has started this whole "I'll only fight at home " movement.
The only one with ball's to fight hard fights abroad is parker.
don't talk absolute bollocks... miller neither has a belt or won the purse bid and if his manager and promotion outfit won the purse bid then he can choose where the fight takes place.
Joshua on the other hand has 4 belts and attracts the biggest audience and the biggest T.V buys out of any heavyweight.
Did mayweather fight outside of vegas once he was the established number 1 ? No he f@ckin didn't so get a grip son
First of all, the purse bid for Whyte-Pulev was 1,5M so Whyte's purse was 375K. That's not even half of his highest purse but more importantly he will make about 5 times that against Parker.
Secondly, he doesn't need to win an eliminator to fight AJ. He can have that fight when both him and AJ want it and currently neither do. Also, it was a way for Hearn to get back at Pulev for pulling out of the AJ fight due to injury in the last moment.
The Miller situation is completely different. Purse bid is 2M and Miller's getting 500K, which is not only his highest purse by far, but there is no other fight for him right now that will make him anything close to that. Moreover, this was his chance to get a shot at AJ, something he's been crying about for a year.
I hope you see the difference. Whyte is fighting a stronger opponent and ex-champion and is laughing his way to the bank (and so is Hearn) while Big Baby will be fighting some bum in the US for half the money he could get against Pulev. Straight-up duck by Miller, who like other US heavies has a big mouth and does a lot of talk, but not much walk.
Big Baby is signed with Hearn and HBO.
No way traveling for 500K would be "his highest purse by far".
And Whyte may or may not be fighting a stronger opponent, that is up for debate given Parker's less than stellar performance vs Joshua. Yeah, I think Parker is better but we don't really know that.
Dillian ducked Ortiz and Pulev, tho I kinda get Pulev financially. What he also did is put himself in line to be stripped of whatever belt he has and is definitely going to lose position in two different sanctioning bodies. But, as stablemates, I concede that Whyte may not need ranking to get another shot to get KTFO by Joshua.

Miller is not signed with Hearn, he has his own promotional company. Hearn co-promoted his last two fights but Miller is a free agent.
Miller got 70k for the Washington fight, which was his highest purse at that point. How much do you think he got vs Wach and Duhaupas, who are not american and are less known than Washington? Washington and Duhaupas both fought Wilder and got peanuts (250K and 140K) in title fights. You are kidding yourself if you think Miller got more than 250K vs Wach or Duhaupas. So yeah, 500k (or 527K to be exact) is by far his highest purse and probably more than he's made in his last three fights.
As for Whyte ducking Ortiz, that's nonsense and has been explained a hundred times already. There is no money and no point in that fight. Why fight Ortiz for peanuts to become a "second" mandatory and hope to get a shot at Wilder in two years when he will make seven figures fighting Parker now? Whyte is not ducking anyone. Actually, after Ortiz beat Jennings, Whyte called him out. At that time, Ortiz was calling out Wilder, who wanted none if it. Now Ortiz is three years older and Whyte is getting better with every fight. To say Dillian is ducking the old man now when he called him out 3 years ago makes zero sense.
Fat Baby Miller ain't shit and he knows it. How the hell do you say you plan to be the next HW champion of the world, yet pull out of a final eliminator fight because of the location? FOH. Go back to McDonalds and tell them to supersize you.

I agree, AJ is a unified champion, he gets to call where he wants to fight with his belts on the line. I'm sure he'll fight outside of the UK when he feels the time is right.
Mayweather on the other hand, never left Vegas to fight once he hit it big. He probably would have burst into flames if he fought anywhere else.

I don't see how any of that info is relevant to my comment.
