It's not "cheating" if there is no rule against it.Yup both boxers signed the contract to fight for the IBF Championship belt way before the fight. I believe they have two weeks to sign the contract once the IBF approves the fight. and if the challeneger doesn't sign than the next contender in line gets the fight.
Jacobs either couldnt make the weight at last minute (Which I hope is the case.)
or
Jacobs started hydrating right after the 1st weigh-in knowing he wasnt gonna do the same day weight and giving himself over 12-15 hour head start. Which is blatantly CHEATING imo.Comment

So this all was just a scoop to get Jacobs the belt, poor Derev.. DiBella and Rozier screwed Sergey over from a payday against GGG just to get Jacobs the belt. Derevyanchenko is against all odds here, no trainer and fighting vs HBOs darling Jacobs.Comment

Want them to hold hands and sing Hakuna matata till the end of their days?
This is boxing man, no real friends.Comment

It sucks, but how many opportunities do you get to fight for a World Title? I would be hard pressed to see anyone turn that down.Comment

The document submitted to the IBF does not obligate the fighters to anything. It simply states the general conditions of the bout. The template is available online. The rules address the circumstances of this bout. Jacobs broke no rules, he just took advantage of a loophole and knowing that Golovkin would protect his standing as IBF champion. The IBF seek a signed contract for the fight from both fighters before fully sanctioning the bout. Its a tentative sanction prior to them receiving this.
If they had no intention of fighting for the IBF belt due to the second weigh in, they shouldnt have submitted a signed contract to them for their sanction unless they knew were to act in bad faith.Comment
