Egidijus "The Mean Machine" Kavaliauskas suffered a cut in the opening round, but he was not deterred, turning back Juan Carlos Abreu via unanimous decision by scores of 97-93, 97-93, and 96-94 to retain the NABF welterweight title in the ESPN-televised main event Saturday evening at the Save Mart Center.

Not so much. Maybe Abreu was just a bad style matchup but I'm thinking the "Mean Machine" needs to go back to the garage for some rework and modification.

I would have been ok with it after the Avanesyan fight but not now. He got exposed last night.

Let me guess, this will be Crawford's cherry pick.

He's about as ready as he's going to get. He has Horn like skill without the size. I'm sure he has power, but his delivery system is lacking, a little movement gave him fits. His face won't hold up.

WTF??!!! This guy isnt ready for SHT!! It's not even funny how badly exposed he was! He cant handle movement and is worthless backing up and was hugging Abreau which shows his stamina is sht! ESPN was talking like he was going to change the welterweight landscape last night before the fight started!!!

Oh you haven't caught on? Lol

They'll try to hype this guy (Emmanuel Taylor level talent), Benavidez (literally a shot fighter), and Matthysse (way past it)

And a host of other no-hopers

Why? B/c they need to hype up the cast of marginal WWs they have for Crawford. Now that Loma is hurt, things are horrendous in that stable. It's the only option ESPN has at the moment.

Very disappointed in that performance. Not sure he beats Alexander now. Hopefully he gets better soon. He gets played with by Bud at this point
