I also remember that fight and imo beating Lacy wasn't some huge feat.
I think the perceived hyping up of Lacy had a lot to do with the opinion that Brit fighters (especially in that weight class) had a habit of "hiding out" in the UK and not truly testing themselves. So Lacy may have been getting somewhat of a boost by pundits. But he was never a special fighter to me.

I remember thinking the Hopkins win was something special though b/c B-hop went on to beat top guys after that, which meant Joe beat a live dog who was still a P4Pish caliber fighter
There was also the Roy Jones fight, where again, it wasn't that Calzaghe beat him (and sure he was past his best), it was how again. The sight of Calzaghe going forehead-to forehead with Jones with his arms by his side was still a shocking sight, basically telling Jones 'you can't hit me if you tried' (and sure Jones got him down in the first, but that was a forearm).

Then the commentators discussing whether the humilation Calzaghe was putting on Jones was 'befitting', and the comment 'Calzhage outroyjonesing roy jones'. Calzaghe was a special talent.

Again, it wasn't that Calzhage ground out hard-fought victories against Jones/Lacy, it was the level of dominance that sticks in the mind.

I didn't mention that fight because I thought Roy was way past it at that point lol

He had been stopped twice with three losses in a row not long before that. He lost to every quality guy he faced after Tarver. He just wasn't the same guy anymore.

I think you know that. I like the Hopkins win. That's the one that sticks out.

And credit to Hopkins in that fight that Calzhage didn't have it all his own way too - Hopkins made him work for it.

And lest we forget, Calzaghe won an MD. One judge gave it to Hopkins.......name of that judge....Adalaide Byrd.

No doubt but that fight showed me he was a great fighter. Anybody arguing otherwise is either a casual or they hate brits lol I don't know where he stacks up but he was great no doubt

A past prime Bika was better than anyone Lacy beat by a large margin? Are you ****ing serious right now?

Do you know what, i'm just going to ignore you like i'm doing with Daggum. Both of you are seriously not with it. I'm clearly wasting my time.
So if maidana didn't f ucked up broner, he could still have a chance to become the next fighter of the decade?

Broner had already lost 2 fights against Quintero and Ponce De Leon but got given the verdict. He then goes to a close decision with a shot Malignaggi. So no, at no point was Broner going to be anything of the sort.

And there's a huge difference losing to a Calzaghe than to a Maidana. Big difference.
