Why is Deontay considered a young fighter at 32 near 33?

Aging me part of Eddie's plan, but it wont work cuz Joshua only 4 years younger.

Dynamite Daniel Dubois young enough to play the waiting game.

He finna whoop us all like Marciano done Joe Louis.

They say a Heavyweights prime is in their early 30's.

It's all about milage. by 32 Ali already had two 15 round wars with Ken Norton and one with Joe Frazier. That's 45 rounds in just three fights. Wilder has had 123 rounds in 40 fights (3 rounds per fight)

Tyson was in prison at 32, so tough to say, but he was on a path of self destruction from the moment Cus died.

32 is right where I would say Lennox entered his prime though

In my opinion those who consider him young is only based on his resume (I.e he hasn’t yet stepped up to the elite level). People didn’t know who he was until last couple of years outside the absolute hardcore and that includes within the US too. That is hopefully changing so should allow him a few better pay days but I a free with sentiment of some others - it’s in his interest do this fight ASAP, delaying it increases the risk of his speed slowing slightly and reducing his chances. You might argue wilder has a stronger lunch but Joshua is no feather, you don’t want to be caught by him either.

When you fight Journey Man or Fat 40 year olds you are not going to take a lot of punishment. Tyson was fighting pro at 18 so it will age you quickly when you start that young

All athletes in all sports now peak later that before due to improved levels of physical fitness and conditioning. Athletes are reaching new heights in terms of what they can physically do and it takes longer for athletes to reach that point so they peak later.

For example tennis players used to win Grandslams as teenagers, doubt we'll ever see that again as the competitiveness and the sheer level of professionalism means most don't peak and win Grandslams until their mid 20's now.

In regards to boxing specifically boxers fight/spar less now, take less wear and tear. Plus the proliferation of titles mean't boxers back then had to fight more competitive bouts. Ali fought Archie Moore in the 16th bout, fought Cooper who was commonwealth champion when it meant something in his 19th bout. He fought Liston in his 20th bout.

If Wilder had been fighting at that level, that early on his career he'd probably be far more shopworn. Look at Dereck Chisora he's only 34 but has been seen as past his best for years now. Why because he's fought at a very competitive level very early on, Helenius, Fury twice, Haye, Vitali etc, it takes a toll on you having hard fight after hard fight.

hes not seen as young, only as "young" as in protected. Any other titlist would have been a pre-title novice with his resume.

The reason is actually quite simple.

Wilder never put on a pair of boxing gloves until he was 20 years old. He has only been boxing for about 12 years. Most fighters have 12 years as an amateur. Wilder is still learning. You are right, 32 is not young for a fighter. But the miles he has, is less than some amateurs.

Being heavyweight champion of the world 12 years after starting boxing is rather incredible.
