The largely Hispanic crowd was booing Canelo when the final bell sounded at the sports bar we were at. That was surprising. I don't think failed test helped matters with fans (albeit he still has a lot). There's a great interview with Eddie Hearn on Canelo and Golovkin at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j72w2l1p8Kc
The discussion starts at 3:20 of it. Pretty interesting from an insider perspective since these guys know much, much more about what's going on with fighters and deal making than than the average joe watching a ppv and reading an article.Comment

ggg is correct. Not all Mexicans will cheer for Canelo. You have some that are called "Cangrejos" they probably won't cheer for Canelo.Comment

There is a lot of boxing events and fans in this town(Las Vegas) most of my Mexican friends will always root for canelo no matter what, most of hard core boxing fans, including Mexicans, won't.
5 de mayo and Mexican independence day events are huge here, no matter who's fighting, lots of big money seats are bought by casinos and comped to high rollers, most people who order the ppv are groups of friends that are going to get together and party regardless of the fights. Casinos take a huge take on those weekends, a lot of casino employees make a lot of tips and money gets spread around, everybody's happy 😀Comment

you got it backwards. Only Mexican Americans who try too hard to pretend they're real Mexicans support Canelo and call him dumb **** like cashnelo. Actual Mexicans from Mexico who know boxing consider him and his fans an embarrassment.Comment
