    WBA shenanigans #212: Shumenov

I just took a look at who is fighting next week and I just
noticed that Beibut Shumenov is fighting against Hizni Altunkaya for the vacant WBA (regular) belt.

Shumenov has been inactive. His last fight was more than 2 years ago.

Altunkaya is ranked #71 according to boxrec, doesnt have a good win and lost against glowacki a year ago.

Earlier this year the WBA sanctioned a fight for the vacant (regular) belt between Arsen Goulamirian and Ryad Merhy.
Boxrec now lists that fight for the "interim WBA (regular) belt".
I dont know why they changed it.

So end of next week, we will have

    WBA super: Murat Gassiev
WBA regular: probably Beibut Shumenov and
    WBA interim: Arsen Goulamirian

WBA is the biggest joke lol.

Yep, the WBA does seem to be in a mess. And this is after they said they were going to clean themselves up. But no, they are still doing this crap. Quite shameful really.

The WBA love Shumenov nearly as much as they love Sturm, man. His run as WBA Light Heavy champion (and later 'super' champion) has to rank as one of the worst in recent memory.

They also have Lebedev as the champion in recess so they will have four champions at the weight.

Yep, everything you said is correct. Shumenov is rich and pays the WBA big bucks for these opportunities. WBA has said that the winner of this fight will have to take on Goulamirian, who will kill either of these dudes. Hopefully one day these pigs can actually get down to 1 belt

They are a joke. How they come up with some of their rankings is a mystery.
