  • Comments Thread For: Callum Johnson: Artur Beterbiev is a Monster, I am as Well!

Callum Johnson has been through too much over the last couple of years to be concerned about who stands across from him in a boxing ring. His father, Paul, passed away in February 2016 and with that Johnson would lose a man who he described as his "best friend" and "hero". Speaking, at the time, to his local newspaper the Boston Standard, Johnson said: "I felt like I could jump out of a plane without a parachute on and he would catch me."

You will probably look like one after Beterbiev is done with you.

I was a bit frustrated with Johnson's progress in the pro's, months between fights and inactivity at times which meant no step-ups until Buglioni.
He does have power I just hope he has a few defensive moves to nullify those launching combinations that Beterbiev likes to throw because Joe Gallagher's style of the high guard with little lateral movement will not get him out of the way of the dangerous power punches that will be coming multiple times a round most likely in the form of combos as well.
Johnson does however have a creative left hook so maybe a pivot check hook counter could be his best chance.
I like that he took the fight despite the lack of world level experience and he's no.8 and the other fighters were too scared.
      War Johnson!

Beterbievs power comes with technique, I ain't discrediting johnson but hes no monster. Hes brave for taking this fight when literally the entire division is ducking this guy but only way I see him winning is if beterbievs inactivity has demotivated him. But I'm 95% sure beterbiev by KO within 4

The entire division literally ducking him? Well that’s a bit of a stretch. I seem to remember kovalev more than willing to take him on but Beterbievs advisors voted against it (wisely so)
I’m sure him and others would have no issue sizing up and taking him on. He’s a good fighter but the ducking word is used way to inappropriately nowadays
