Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Promoters Won't Take Risks, We Think of Fans First

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar de la Hoya believes that some promoters are not willing to give fans the best fights simply because about the risk that those fights represent. And despite this, De La Hoya says Golden Boy Promotions has imposed a policy of putting together quality fights for their stable of boxers.

Those risks paid off big for Ali, Diaz and Linares, too.

Well JoJo Diaz vs Jesus Rojas is VERY fan friendly fight so Oscar's telling the truth here.

I dont have problem with GBP as they have a history or matching up their fighter stuff.

Nobody can out up quality fights all the time but GBP generally do not baby their fighters.

Stick to what you are saying here Kitchen Utensils and your company GBP will be okay.

Wonder what "other promoters" Kitchen is talking about..

This might be the only time this year, I agree with him.

De la Hoya is 100% right. Hate what happened with GGG-Canelo 1 and 2, but for everything else he's shown a willingness to take risks as a promoter.

The biggest issue that I've had with Oscar as a promotor is that he had Canelo in 3 straight meaningless fights instead of really trying to give fans the fight that they wanted at the time. That, and I find it hard to believe that a promotor has nothing to do with the ridiculous scorecards that Canelo gets in what seems to be every big fight.

I have to agree with Oscar De La Hoya. Golden Boy has but up their best fighters in fights not knowing of they will win or not.

                    They've been involved in

                    Linares/Loma
                    Canelo/Trout
                    Matthysse/Pacquoia
                    Jojo/GR Jr.
                    Ali/Munguia
                    Ali/Cotto
                    Canelo/Cotto
                    Canelo/Mayweather
                    And many other great fights!
