But I don’t have a problem Wilder demanding a % when the next round of negotiations start
Because the flat fee was some bullish.it and Hearn wasted everyone’s time pretending like he actually wanted to make the fight when that was never the case
"Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, most recently offered Wilder a $15 million flat fee to fight Joshua in October or November in the United Kingdom. Hearn previously offered Wilder a $12.5 million flat fee for their heavyweight showdown.
Between those two offers, Shelly Finkel, Wilder’s co-manager, and Al Haymon, Wilder’s adviser, offered Joshua a $50 million guarantee to battle Wilder in the United States. Once Hearn informed them that their huge heavyweight title unification fight had to take place in the United Kingdom, Wilder was willing to make that transatlantic trip for the biggest fight of his career."
I'm done with them too Champ! **** Hearn, **** Joshua, and **** DAZN!
Dude Wilder tried to unify. Even $50 million didn't work. Joshua and Hearn had road block after another as Wilder pulled their punk card.
Joshua is already a unified champ....
Wilder has the one stray belt that required no one to beat. The one Wlad didnt have because his brother did.
Youd try to fight the guy with the money, the titles, the star power, and the prestige, right?
Wilder turned all of it down despite not bringing 50% of the revenue in, 50% of the titles, 50% of the fans, 50% of anything. Can’t even compare olympic success for f ucks sake.
If I was Wilder, I’d just get the fight done by whatever means necessary first. You can call the shots after you win. 99.99999% of the world would do this. 99.9999% of the boxing world has done this...
Wilder has a loser’s and victim’s mentality with this.
It is what it is. I’m still going to watch Wilder fight because I love the guy and he’s American so I’ll always back him but this is going to be like being a Pacquiao fan all over again...I’ll have to get lumped in with the irrational ones.
Look, it is really ****** to talk about either man needing the fight for financial reasons. They both are quite well off financially at this point. Sure AJ has more money than Wilder but Wilder already has enough to live the type lifestyle he enjoys for the remainder of his life. How much money is enough? For some, no matter how wealthy they become it is not enough. What can Joshua do with $100 million that he can't do with $50 million? Have five homes instead of two, ten cars instead of five? Obviously Wilder is the more grounded of the two.
You would be right if you were talking about you and me, however, you must know that a fairly large percentage of pro athletes go broke (bad investments, supporting huge amounts of people, flashy lifestyle etc). It isn't crazy to think that a pro fighter with limited time to make big money, is thinking about banking as much as possible before it all ends. Peace.
AJ turned down the LARGEST FIGHT that can be made, to fight Povetkin AJ turned down the LARGEST GUARANTEED PAY FOR A HEAVYWEIGHT FIGHT, would rather fight Povetkin AJ turned down the FIGHT FOR ALL OF THE TITLES, but wanted to fight Povetkin
You just don't get it do you? Insult a man enough and he tends to want revenge. This is where Wilder is now. AJ better pray he never fights Wilder because I really do believe Wilder will do his best to ensure AJ is never again physically the same man. For some men honor trumps money.
If honour trumps money then Wilder would have accept the 12.5m flat fee like he said he would. If he felt insulted by that offer he would have been the undisputed HW champ in September 2018. You can’t tell me you don’t care about money, they claim he felt insulted. His revenge should be taking AJ out in the ring, money shouldn’t even come into it. Get those four belts, forget money... that’s certainly one thing you don’t get.
